Have your say on transport plans to improve travel in Basingstoke

A transport strategy that will support economic growth opportunities in Basingstoke, and build on Enterprise M3 LEP's £35m investment in the town, has been released for consultation. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, along with Hampshire County Council, have jointly published the draft strategy which is open to comments until Monday, 28 January 2019 by clicking here. The strategy is supported by the expertise of Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) which has invested up to £36m in Basingstoke's transport infrastructure to support capacity, protect existing jobs and unlock future employment and growth opportunities. This includes highway capacity improvements and support for the Manydown Housing Infrastructure Fund bid which will support the western corridor of the transport strategy. Kevin Travers, Enterprise M3's Head of Transport, said: "Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership is please

Internet of things provider set to expand with EM3 expansion loan

A company using the Internet of Things to improve cost efficiencies for the public sector and other organisations is getting its growth plans underway with the help of a £150,000 Expansion Loan from the Enterprise M3 II Funding Escalator. Using Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology, Barter for Things provides its customers with the means to transmit wirelessly, information that has historically been collected by people. More recognised wireless communication networks such as WiFi, Bluetooth or 3G/4G mobile are unsuitable for this type of data transmission either because they are too expensive, too power intensive or deliver over a short range. By contrast, LPWAN provides the means to communicate simple, low bit rate messages over distances of up to 3km in urban settings and 10km in rural locations, using very little power at a low cost. Barter for Things works with its clients to custom build the required network infrastructure, i.e. masts and related technology, and...

Investing in digital and business growth

Enterprise M3 LEP's investment in affordable, flexible workspace and ultra-fast broadband in the New Forest, will generate jobs and apprenticeships for rural communities.

The cash injection of £200,000 will launch a Centre for Social Innovation (C4Si) in Lymington, on December 7. Based in the refitted and modernised South Efford House, the business-led facility will mark a new approach to business-led open innovation, social enterprise and sustainable business growth. It is expected to provide 100 jobs over three years.

It will be used by local businesses, the New Forest Business Partnership and the New Forest Group Training Association (GTA) led by C4Si. Brockenhurst and Totton Colleges, and New Forest District Council, will also use the centre, along with local voluntary and community social enterprise organisations to deliver their programmes and community outreach.

Interim Assistant Director, Operations, Sally Agass, said: "Rural locations are one of the many a

Hi-tech growth hub puts regeneration area on the map for innovation

A thriving innovation centre for start-ups and early stage businesses, backed by £4m of Enterprise M3 funding, has marked its first year of success.  BASE Bordon Innovation Centre, converted from a former British Army officers' mess, is just one new initiative on the regeneration site that is the former Louisburg Barracks, near Borden, East Hampshire. Sitting alongside the new Future Skills Centre, offering vocational training to young people, and the TechForest business park, the centre will help position Whitehill and Borden as a viable business hub. The entire area is being transformed into a green and healthy town under a £1billion regeneration which includes up to 3,350 new homes, 5,500 new jobs, new schools, a new road, new facilities and more green space. Enterprise M3 LEP's Local Growth Fund contributed the lion's share of the £5.6m business innovation centre.  Our chairman, Dave Axam, said: "Our investment will support high-value, local companies grounded in...
