Government publishes Enterprise M3 chair’s insightful blog

Enterprise M3 is gaining a reputation for influential opinion with the Government selecting to publish a blog from the LEP's website. The incisive argument by chair Dave Axam, discusses the need to improve the UK's ‘skills agenda' and overhaul the technical and vocational training system, giving these qualifications the credit they deserve. Dave, a Farnborough College of Technology graduate, says: "There needs to be aspiration for our school-leavers; 16-18 is a crucial age when our young talent is making choices. We should be inspiring them to step up to step on by providing a better, more motivational education and a range of pathways to achieve their ambitions. "These routes to work shouldn't be mutually exclusive but interlinking. So you can start as an apprentice, acquire a degree-equivalent or post-grad qualification while in work or do it the other way round, or start on an arts or technical degree and acquire the extra skills you need in business management or new technology at any point." The blog entitled 'How educational equity across academic and vocational training can fuel innovation and productivity' is on the Building our Industrial Strategy website. You can read it here. The website showcases the stories of businesses, academia and civil society working to make the Industrial Strategy a reality. The Industrial Strategy, itself, sets out a long-term plan to boost the productivity and earning power of people throughout the UK.
